Patterns in the Tide
Swirling around in the ocean tide Seeks a crystal skull that’s unwilling to hide As patterns form within the foam A mermaid sought to take him home And while he’s found the world’s asunder Above the clouds begin to cover with thunder While the crystal skull’s clutched within the mermaid’s palm The goddess divines her path with her quiet psalms So that as the crystal skull is finally found And its spirit essence is blessed along with sound Of the sea, of the manmade ocean, a yearning takes place Along in motion and as the mermaid takes care of his face The expressions become motionless, for the mermaid never communicates And the crystal skull never seeks to dictate The mermaid carries him safely home Where the earth meets heaven on a distant ‘phone Where the infinite ocean laps gently at the shore And the crystal skull knows he won’t be hidden no more Where the stars peek out between their clouds of old And where the one who befriends him writes poems of gold Where he is able to pass his wisdom on to where it belongs Where the mermaid is able to sing the messages of the siren’s song And finally, finally, he is at peace listening to the distant sound Of the ocean to say that at least, and as the story writes on The crystal companion is welcomed in a place where we can both belong.[/font]
